ePorticulture: How do you make it happen?

Dr. Ruth Cox, Dr. Kevin Kelly

Demand for electronic portfolios, or ePortfolios, in educational settings often begins as an organic process that then evolves into a challenge to maintain and grow as a program- or campus-wide effort. This chapter describes what it takes--and how long it takes--to implement an ePortfolio initiative at the program or campus level. Issues to consider include assessing the need for ePortfolios across an entire campus; preparing for different phases of the initiative, moving from investigation to pilot to implementation; and focusing on ePortfolio-related teaching and learning strategies. The chapter also includes guidelines and resources, such as the top ten questions for faculty or departments considering the use of ePortfolios.
